Salsa-licious:

What are the qualities of a good salsa dancer?:
In my opinion as a male... is all about having a good time, making the girl feel sexy, making her smile, the connection between the two. A good dancer feels the music and expresses, if they mess up, they will smile.... a good dancer dominates the music and don't let the music control them. A good dancer is aware of his talent and is still humble about it.
Salsa dancing is best:
in a night club
The top three salsa songs that I must dance to, no matter what are?:
Lloraras, Ya boy, Perla Fina
The best salsa dancing is when:
You make a connection with your partner you just met and at the end of the song you both ask..... WHAT'S YOUR NAME?
I feel in love with:
the dance itself
Salsa dancing is best with:
a stranger you plan on making a friend

Salsa Views:

Why Salsa?:
Great way to socialize, meet new people, express yourself, release the stress, burn some calories, have fun etc.
How long have you been dancing salsa and what keeps you coming back for more?:
Over 5 years.... What keeps me coming back is the friendly atmosphere.... It feels like a big family at times. I also use Salsa to network with people.(remember, I'm a promoter)
In addition to learning salsa, what else have you gained from the experience?:
Meeting lots of interesting personalities..... Lawyers, doctors, Wall street people, bartenders, porters etc. ...Amazing how everybody is the same on the dance floor and even they speak a different language they can still communicate through dancing.
My most embarrassing salsa moment was:
At the Punta Cana Salsa Congress I announced this person as my Salsa mentor thinking it was Osmar Perrosnes from Yamulee's turn and it happens to be Ismael Otero's turns who I never took any classes from. But it was all fun and I just laughed about it.
What are the salsa No-No's when dancing with a partner?:
Bad breath and No deodorant
If you could improve upon one thing in the New York Salsa scene, what would it be?:
Have the Salsa community be more friendly towards new Salsa club goers.... Remember we were all beginners at one point in our lives.
What advice would you give someone just starting out in salsa?:
Make a lot of friends bring them with you to places you go... people tend to be more open to dance with you once they see you dancing. When they see you dance with others it sends the message that you want to dance and have a good time, it also identifies your style (on1, on2, street, Cuban) People go to clubs for different reasons... some just want to listen to the music, others want to have a drink, meet new people, just making their friends company (birthdays) etc. If you go out by yourself... Move to the tunes you like and smile... both men and women will ask you to dance. Don't think so much about steps and turns, instead just think about how much fun you're having expressing your self on the dance floor. Last but not least.... HAVE A DRINK or two.... it helps you believe you're a better dancer than you actually are and the person next to you will start looking a lot better after the 2nd drink lol
