In addition to learning salsa, what else have you gained from the experience?:
I've learned to be more flirtatious, and I naturally walk with a bit swing in my thing now!
My most embarrassing salsa moment was:
can't think of one right now....
What are the salsa No-No's when dancing with a partner?:
The biggest no-no is to correct someone (unasked) when SOCIAL DANCING!
If you could improve upon one thing in the New York Salsa scene, what would it be?:
Break down the barriers between the levels of dancers. I think a great idea at a social would be to do a thing like they do at ballroom socials.. I think it's for the foxtrot... where a line of men and a line of women gather at the front of the room. The first man and woman face each other, walk to each other, take hands, go to the floor and start dancing. Then the next man and woman in line do the same, and so on. When the song is over the men and women run to the front of the floor, form lines again, and start the whole process over. The beauty of this is that you never know who you will be matched up with, so it evens the playing field. Everybody gets to dance with just about everybody, there is no hierarchy, and no "rejection".
