About Me:
I'm short, fat, funny and a fool on the dance floor. It's all about having fun and connecting with your partner when I'm dancing salsa (oh, and of course showing off since I'm the biggest Jewish HAM ever!). I'm an animal fanatic and stop to pat all dogs and cats (and police horses). I love to travel and meet new people. I am also VERY guilty of what WayGee talks about knowing a ton of people in the mambo scene and knowing NOTHING about them :( I would really like to get better with that so thanks WayGee for this site.

Salsa dancing is best:
in a night club
The best salsa dancing is when:
I'm dancing with an old-timer or a young guy who dances LIKE an old-timer (see above requirements).
I feel in love with:
the dance itself
Salsa dancing is best with:
a reliable partner
Salsa Views:
Why Salsa?:
Because the music gets into your SOUL!
How long have you been dancing salsa and what keeps you coming back for more?:
I started going to salsa clubs around 1988. Began to actually STUDY the art form with Eddie & Maria Torres in 1990 and took intensive classes with them for 3 years before starting The Mambo Mamas. I keep coming back because it's LIFE to me.
In addition to learning salsa, what else have you gained from the experience?:
Oh, that's a BOOK! I've gained so much from salsa, it would be hard to tell you... everything from close friends, tons of acquaintances to self esteem and acceptance.
What are the salsa No-No's when dancing with a partner?:
It's only 2 or 3 minutes of your life. Don't act like it's gonna kill you to dance 1 song with me even though I can't spin a million times!!!
If you could improve upon one thing in the New York Salsa scene, what would it be?:
It's not all about SPINNING!!!!! Guys learn to LEAD. You can dance a whole song with the old-timers with hardly any turns but they're still holding you, dancing, moving and it's NOT boring. There should be a difference between SOCIAL dancing and PERFORMING. If ya wanna perform, GET ON STAGE!!!
What advice would you give someone just starting out in salsa?:
Learn different styles, timings. Dance with all different types of dancers. It'll make YOU a better dancer. For men, the most IMPORTANT thing, LEAD, LEAD, LEAD. You can know a million turn patterns but I'll take a partner with a good closed cross body lead ANY day over someone who throws you around but has no lead.
