santorico style spinning, basic with reverse body roll, side basic with arm styling, open break with styling and body roll and I SHIMMY SHIMMY every chance I get.

TIMING! Men: clear, good signals, strong(I don't mean dislocate a shoulder)lead and please protect your partners on any floor. Women: quick reaction time, soft arms, no back leading.

Why Salsa?:
Dancing always came natural to me and is my first love but "Salsa" for me is the equivalent of freedom. Each dance is better than the next and represent a sense of pride and joy. It's my happy place.
How long have you been dancing salsa and what keeps you coming back for more?:
Have been dancing with my old school (jibaro) uncles on1 since I was three yrs.old and started dancing on 2 one and a half years ago. Again, it's my happy place and I plan to die (a very long time from now) HAPPY!
In addition to learning salsa, what else have you gained from the experience?:
I for one learned that I don't have to be in control all the time eg: I now follow. Developing a bond with new friends and sharing a common ground with others has been a wonderful experience. Watching a dear friend that took classes with me once upon a time now become an incredible performer on stage fills me with such joy but over all, my youngest daughter not only has learn from me the love for dance she and I have something we love to do together all the time. Keep the kids out of trouble and we get to share alot more smiles together.
What are the salsa No-No's when dancing with a partner?:
Ignoring the fact that you are STINKY! Change a shirt, deordorant can be applied again and don't act like you cannot afford to buy breathmints or gum for heaven sakes! MOST ANNOYING FACTOR: social dancing and your partner who doesn't know you from adam feels the need to lectures you on how to dance especially when that person is off timing and a brutal lead.
If you could improve upon one thing in the New York Salsa scene, what would it be?:
Choco's needs real air conditioning....CAN YOU HEAR ME CHOCO? Wuv u, Choco!
What advice would you give someone just starting out in salsa?:
Just enjoy it and take the chance of dancing with new people of all levels. You will find the majority of mambo people will shown you courtesy on the dance floor. Master your basics and put it to good use every chance you get and before you know it, you will be improving and really having fun.
