This concert will celebrate the 93rd birthday of the legendary singer Graciela, the vocalist of Machito and His Afro Cubans and the Mario Bauza Orchestra. Known for her deep, melodic, sensual voice, Graciela enticed generations with her renditions of “Sí Sí No No”, “Aye José”, and the romantic boleros, rumbas, and mambos that made the big band sound of the Machito one of the big three bands of the fabled Palladium Ballroom during the 50s. Beginning her career with the Anacaona All-Female Orchestra in Cuba in the 20s, Graciela has traveled the world bringing the musical excellence of the Savoy Ballroom, The Park Palace and the Palladium to world stages, breaking barriers of racism and gender along the way.
