Welcome to the MamboNYC forum rules & posting guideline section. To make sure that you have a quality experience on the MamboNYC Forums, we ask that you please read and follow the forum rules.

1. Show Courtesy and Respect to Other Forum Members

Every person in the forum deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect. Keep your posts on topic and avoid flames and profanities. We're all busy people and nobody wants to spend time wading through lots of purposeless shouting, bad language or personal attacks. We want to have a warm, friendly atmosphere in the forum so that folks are comfortable sharing information and having a good time talking with one another. Messages that contain flames, profanity or personal attacks may be edited or removed from the forum and your access to the forum may be terminated.

2. Do Not Post Advertisements in the Forum

We intend to keep discussion threads free from messages containing ads. Messages with advertisements will be removed from the forum. Posting comments to advertise or sell a commercial service is not allowed. However, announcements about new salsa websites may be posted the Salsa Websites section. Announcements about upcoming local events can be posted in the Local Events section.

3. Clearly Label the Subject Heading of Your Post

When you post a message, make sure the subject header indicates what the post is actually about. This will make it easier for other members to respond to your question or comment. Please avoid the use of expletives in subject headings, it makes the post and the forum look bad. Subject Headings with unclear or unnecessarily long titles may be edited for clarity.

4. Keep Posted Links Relevant and Clean

Do not post links to adult sites, etc. Posts with those kinds of links will be removed from the forum and your access to the forum may be terminated. Posted links should be relevant to the thread they are posted in.

5. Keep Graphics Relevant and Clean

If you include a graphic in your message, please make sure it's relevant to your post. Unnecessary graphics just slow things down for everyone. Messages with adult graphics will be removed from the forum and your access may be terminated.

6. Keep Personal Information Private

Never post personal information such as phone numbers, credit card numbers, addresses, etc. If you do decide to disclose personal information to someone, always whisper it in a private message, never post it publicly in the forum. Messages containing personal information may be edited or removed from the forum.

7. Don't Post Messages in All Caps

This is the online equivalent of shouting and marks your post as either a newbie or someone who wants to be rude. Either way you're better off simply not doing it.

8. Don't Cross Post Messages in the Forum

"Cross posting" is not permitted. Choose the best forum for your question, and post your question in one forum only. Cross posted messages will be deleted.

9. Don't post Copyrighted material

You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this bulletin board. Posts found to have copyrighted material will be removed immediately and may cause your access to this bulletin board to be removed or have your user account be suspended.

10. MamboNYC Events Calendar

MamboNYC chooses at its discretion to include event information in the event calendar section of the site. Requests made by posters to the Local Events section are made on a case by case basis. As a general guideline, events that cannot be verified through a reliable source including printed post cards, public listings via host providers (dance schools, promoters, 3rd party websites, news agencies, etc) will not be listed. Events deemed not meeting minimum quality requirements or not having a verifiable source will not be listed. Events that occur outside of the NYC general area may not be listed and exceptions may occur on a case by case basis. Events that have not been reviewed by MamboNYC may not be listed. Events with frequent cancellations may not be listed or may be removed from the calendar.

11. Accuracy of Information

MamboNYC does not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.

12. Reporting Objectionable Material

The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact me immediately by email at waygee@yahoo.com. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.

13. Content Moderation & filters

MamboNYC reserves the right to moderate, edit, or delete posts that violate the guidelines. MamboNYC moderates content in a variety of ways including the use of forum moderators, community based flagging of abuses by members, 3rd party spam detection services, trust levels, bad-word filters, behavior analysis filters, and the use of captchas to validate posters as human beings and not spam scripts. We reserve the right to suspend privileges , terminate accounts and/or ban users who do not follow the guidelines for posting content. Third party content filtering services are not 100% accurate and in some few cases may identify a false positive and flag your legitimate post as spam. Your message may not be posted in this circumstance and MamboNYC will make a best effort at catching these occurrences but 100% accuracy is not guaranteed. The system may send you and email notifying you that your post was identified as spam. If this happens, please email waygee@yahoo.com to notify MamboNYC of this occurrence.

14. Your Agreement

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion.

Libel: Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.

Improper Decorum: Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable.
